Pointless but Original

I found out about the fanfiction competition from LJ, and since I don't use LJ much I presume I'm not the first to know about it? XD In any case, I thought I'd bring it up here even though there are only 4 more days to go.

SMASH's fanfiction competition

Unfortunately, prizes are only awarded to people in Australia/New Zealand. XD However, I do know we have some people living in those areas (including yours truly) so if anyone wants to take part, feel free! :D They have a wide range of fandoms, plus five prompts, with a short story from 1000 to 2000 words.

Also, my Japanese teacher bought this 'manga' book and although it was more Americanized than Japanese-style, I found several that intrigued me, one in terms of plot/the idea it gave me (let out your inner child - literally) and some for the plot and drawing. ^^ One of the ones I'd read was The Healing, and you can preview it online at Six Killer Bunnies.
